Members of the Hockey Diversity Alliance speak out on protests around pro sports

Published

The Hockey Diversity Alliance was formed back in June in response to the unjust killing of George Floyd. Months have now passed, as well as many forms of protest and different ways of furthering the conversation, but after yet another horrifying shooting was caught on video and spread across the internet the battle against social injustice is getting louder and louder once again.

Following the shooting of Jacob Blake, we’ve seen pro sports respond in a variety of ways. The NBA, the MLB, and the WNBA have all seen cancellations in their leagues, as well as moments and images of solidarity. In the NHL, however, the playoff games are going on as scheduled, with a moment of reflection happening ahead of the game instead.

On Wednesday evening, members of the Hockey Diversity Alliance spoke out on the protests in others leagues, and the lack there of in the NHL.

We’re sure we’ll be hearing much more of this in the coming hours and days.
